Metropolitan Blues All-Stars

Trying Times

Release date: January 1, 1988

The Metroplitan Blues All-Stars were a beloved Eastern Kentucky band in the 1980s who made it big nationally, performing on NPR’s Mountain Stage and touring for decades. Their electic blend of blues, country, rock n’ roll, and old-time mountain music earned them fans in every genre, with many bemoaning their absence from the tour circuit today. “Trying Times” features David White, Frank Schaap, Rodney Hatfield, Nick Stump and Rick Baldwin, as well as Caroline Dahl prior to her successful solo career as a boogie-woogie, roots musician.

“The link between the Delta blues of a Howlin’ Wolf and the hillbilly blues of a Bill Monroe potato-bug mandolin solo. The MBA’s sew traditional country lyrical cadence within a quilt of contemporary blues … a sizzling blues band.”  — Chicago Tribune
