Phil Sexton

Phil Sexton is the fifth generation of musicians in his family to carry on the tradition of playing and singing bluegrass and old-time Appalachian music. The son of Lee Sexton and great-nephew of Morgan Sexton, both of whom also released albums on Appalshop’s record label June Appal Recordings, Phil showcases his own musical chops on “The Banjo Still Rings.” The album is an important record in a American music history as well as sonically pleasing in its own right.
