Finley Jerome “Pap” Brewer played with the original Carter family in the 1920s and was a regular performer on some of East Tennessee’s radio in the 1930’s and 40’s, including the ‘Barrel of Fun’ SHOW on WJHL and the ‘Mid-Day Merry-Go-Round’ in Knoxville. Pap was a member of the third generation of his family to play music, with his son, grandson and great-grandsons today playing as “Gary Brewer and the Kentucky Ramblers.” Pap’s grandson Gary also released work on Appalshop’s record label June Appal Recordings.
