Mountain Tales
Release date: January 1, 1980
Appalshop’s Roadside Theater has been telling stories from our region since its founding in 1974. Roadside developed a kind of theater that makes sense in Appalachia, with its material coming from its traditions and people, and so it is with “Mountain Tales.” Roadside ensemble members perform six “part-remembered and part-madeup” stories ranging from rowdy humor to a ghost story suitable for children and adults alike.
“A good introduction to the importance of the folktale as a vehicle for education and socialization as well as entertainment.” – University of California at Berkeley
