Luke Smathers String Band

The Luke Smathers String Band first recorded old-time mountain music and swing tunes in the 1920s, calling their music “Mountain Swing” for its ability to blend traditional styles as well as the popular music of the day. After a break of 25 years, the band revived in 1968, and their material today is as fresh as it’s ever been. “In Full Swing” presents a cross-section of the unusually diverse Smathers repertoire, from pop-swing songs to the old standards.
