Ralph Blizzard recevied the National Endowment for the Arts Heritage Fellowship Award a year after being inducted into the North American Fiddler’s Hall Of Fame and a year before he garnered the Tennessee Governor’s Award in the Arts. Blizzard had been playing the fiddle since the age of seven in Tennessee, as he recounted in a Country Music Hall of Fame oral history before his death. Ralph Blizard showcases his style of Appalachian mountain long-bow fiddling on “Blizard Train,” which includes two bonus tracks of Ralph and the original Southern Ramblers, and is widely considered to be his greatest work.
