100 Years Farther On
Release date: January 1, 1990
Johnny Cash once opened for master fiddler Uncle Charlie Osborne, who brings the music and culture of Appalachian Virginia to life as it sounded before radios, before recordings, and certainly before living memory. Born at the end of the 19th century, Charles Nelson Osborne began fiddling as a teenager and appeared frequently at music festivals and on the radio. In his later years he performed regularly at the Carter Family Fold and released “100 Years Farther On” in 1990. Charlie’s bowing (he played left-handed on a right-handed fiddle) is vigorous and unique, and “100 Years Farther On” will be of interest to history buffs and music lovers alike.
“He was dandy.” - Jack Williams
