Appalshop Watch Party

We know the only way for our communities to come out the other side of this pandemic is to do it together.

That's why we're very proud to announce a new campaign called #AppalshopWatchParty.

For as long as this thing lasts, we're making our entire digital catalogue of films free to rent on Vimeo — and we're gathering virtually to watch them together on our Facebook.

Just because you're home doesn't mean you have to be alone.

Our professional archivists are curating films to screen at our Appalshop Watch Parties. Some days — like this coming Friday — we'll show home videos from here in Letcher County. Other days — like next Monday and Wednesday —  we'll show full-length documentaries made by Appalshop filmmakers.

We invite you to join us for all of these screenings, and join your neighbors, too: because we're hosting Appalshop Watch Parties over Facebook, you can chat directly with other people as we all watch the film together for a true, socially-distanced community screening.

We've gone through so many hard things in our history, and we believe that now it's especially impactful for us all to see our own communities reflected on-screen.

That's why we're making our entire digital catalogue free to rent. Just use code "watchparty" when you rent a film over Vimeo — and let us know what you choose to watch!

Right now it's critically important that we all practice social distancing and stay at home at home to flatten the curveSo it's a perfect time to reflect, and to gather virtually when we can't do it in person. Let's ride this out togrher. Stay safe out there!

If you want to get involved in our 50th anniversary, keep an eye out for events coming up in 2020 — or host a virtual one yourselfYou can also join our "take a seat" and solar campaigns, leave a legacy, or support us through a donation.
