Thanks, Caroline!

We would like to extend Archive Director Caroline Rubens many thanks for sixteen and a half years of service to the Appalshop Archive and over a decade of service on the Appalshop Board of Directors. Alongside former Archive Director Elizabeth Barret, Caroline safeguarded and improved access to the world's largest audiovisual archive documenting central Appalachia, as well as vitally important photographic and paper collections stewarded by Appalshop. Following the devastating 2022 flood, which inundated the archive, Caroline led a complex rescue effort that will ensure the archive is available for future generations. We are thankful for her work and wish her the best in her future endeavors!
