Join us for National Book Foundation Presents: Violence Done and Undone

You're invited to an event in partnership with the National Book Foundation:  Violence Done and Undone, an evening of stories and conversation from Julia Phillips and Jackie Wang, moderated by Bernard Clay.

National Book Award–honored authors Julia Phillips (Disappearing Earth, 2019 Fiction Finalist) and Jackie Wang (The Sunflower Cast a Spell to Save Us from the Void, 2021 Poetry Finalist) investigate violence—on a rural Russian peninsula and in a dreamlike state—while reaching towards human connection.

Join us and the National Book Foundation for this event in-person at Appalshop on April 14th at 7PM (doors open at 6:30pm). There will be a limited book giveaway with copies of both Disappearing Earth and The Sunflower Cast a Spell to Save Us from the Void. Please register for the event here.

The conversation will be moderated by Bernard Clay, author of English Lit, and a member of the Affrilachian Poets Collective.
