Headed Back
Release date: January 1, 2018
Nate Polly was born and raised in Letcher County, Kentucky and worked for the railroad for almost four decades. His debut album “Headed Back” draws from his hard work with songs about cooking breakfast with his grandparents, working on the railroad, the back-breaking work of the mines, and gigging around with a string band. Polly played with played bands Kentucky Mountain Grass and the Trough Sloppers before joining Rich and the Po’ Folk, which features Rich Kirby, Nate Polly, and Brett Ratliff, artists who have released work on Appalshop’s record label June Appal Recordings. After all these years of hard work, “Headed Back” is the first time Polly’s songs have been available to the public.
“Nate Polly … [has] a strong love for traditional music of East Kentucky.” - Richmond Register
