8/8/24 Workshop and Reading with Arwen Donahue

You won’t want to miss this event! On August 8, join WMMT and Roadside Theater for a FREE evening with Arwen Donahue, artist and author of Landings: A Crooked Creek Farm Year (2022, Hub City Press). Arwen will lead a workshop and read from her graphic memoir-in-progress, How I Met My Mother. We’ll also have refreshments!

Where: Groundswell, 229 E. Main Street, Whitesburg, KY 41858 (the old post office)

When: August 8, 2024 | Workshop at 6:00 p.m. | Reading at 7:15 p.m.

The evening will begin with the 6:00 pm workshop on “A Graphic Narrative Road Trip.” Are you a writer with an interest in exploring graphic narratives? In this workshop, we’ll grease the wheels of the proverbial words-and-pictures machine and start rolling. Bring along a short story, poem, essay, or any other piece of writing, and we’ll explore various routes you can take in adapting it into a visual/textual form—a comic, visual poem, piece of graphic journalism, or a hybrid. We’ll also create a roadmap for you to complete a project on your own. No drawing skills or experience required. This portion of the evening is free, but does require registration.

At 7:15, Arwen will read from her graphic memoir-in-progress, How I Met My Mother.

A huge thanks to Cowan Community Center, Kentucky Foundation for Women, and the Read Spotted Newt for partnering with us on our summer literary event series! Save the date for upcoming events:
