We're making grants to Whitesburg small businesses

Announcing the Whitesburg Small Business Mini Grant program!

This last year has been an incredible struggle for small businesses around the world, and it’s no different here in Whitesburg.

Appalshop and our partners at Letcher County Tourism Commission and the CANE Kitchen are excited to announce a mini-grant program to support local businesses in Whitesburg as we continue to adapt to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

We have received funds from CEDIK and Journey Charitable Foundation to directly support businesses in their efforts to adapt and survive the new conditions we’re all struggling with. 

The Whitesburg Business Mini-Grant program will make between 5 and 8 grants of $1,500 and $3,000 to businesses in Whitesburg between now and January 30th, 2021.

Grants will be made based on businesses’ plans and existing adaptations to COVID-19, their focus on long-term resilience, and efforts to keep our community safe from spread of the coronavirus. Priority will also be given to businesses who have received little or no financial assistance from other sources since the beginning of the pandemic. Grants can be made only to businesses in Whitesburg.
