Are you an artist, media maker, or creative? Do you have a new, original, and risk-taking arts and cultural project and need funding to get it started? Then the Appal Seed Fund may be a great fit for you – applications open from now until May 13th.
The Appal Seed Fund supports new, original, and risk-taking arts and cultural projects that are in the early stages of development and that advance the mission of Appalshop to:
- Document, disseminate, and revitalize the lasting traditions and contemporary creativity of Appalachia;
- Tell stories the commercial cultural industries don’t tell, challenging stereotypes with Appalachian voices and visions;
- Support communities’ efforts to achieve justice and equity and solve their own problems in their own ways;
- Celebrate cultural diversity as a positive social value; and
- Participate in regional, national, and global dialogue toward these ends.
