The Community Correspondents Corps aims to support public participation in the process of radio production in a variety of ways.  The project is designed to give people the technical and professional skills, and access to the tools used in the field of radio journalism.  CCC training teaches the fundamentals of field recording, interviewing, story construction and editing with Adobe Audition.

In our effort to broaden the spectrum of voices that are telling the world what is happening here in the mountains of Central Appalachia, we encourage people to contribute to the project in whatever capacity works best for them.  We welcome correspondents who are interested in working on some or all of the steps involved in the process of making a radio piece.  For example, the role of a CCC member can include any or all of the following steps:

  •  Conceptualizing a piece and pitching an idea
  • Giving expertise on an issue
  • Finding contacts for interviews
  • Conducting interviews
  • Recording sound content
  • Creating an outline for a piece
  • Reading and writing narration for a piece
  • Completing in-studio production

All stories produced by the CCC are broadcast on WMMT, and posted and archived on the CCC website.
