SeedtimeSeedtime on the Cumberland

Appalshop’s annual festival of traditional mountain arts began in 1987.

Seedtime celebrates its twentieth year in 2006. Over the years, the festival has presented many of the truly legendary figures of mountain music such as Morgan Sexton, Ray Hicks, Etta Baker, Hazel Dickens, Walker Calhoun, Clyde Davenport, Ethel Caffie Austin, and many more. Featured performers in 2005 included Jean Ritchie, Lee Sexton, and Carla Gover. The festival presents outstanding traditional crafts, readings from members of the Southern Appalachian Writers Co-op, and recent work from Roadside Theater and Appalshop Film and Video.

Seedtime 2006 is scheduled for June 8-10. This year’s lineup will include Hazel Dickens and Mike Seeger.
