Logging Practices
"Instead of working for the man, you can
be the man."
-Chad Miano, horse logger
Through WMMT's Forestry Field Days CMI has documented three distinct ways to get timber out of the woods: horse logging, cable logging, and dozer/skidder logging. Each comes with its advantages and disadvantages and each has its own unique economy. The Field Days brought together workers, regulators, industry officials, and local residents to talk about their vision of the future of central Appalachia's forest resources.
