Hazard, Kentucky. It is from the Appalshop Archive's "Early
Headwaters Television collection, 1980-1984," which has been preserved
and transferred from obsolete videotape.
Headwaters Television
began production in 1980 as a weekly television series to bring programs
about local affairs and regional artists to southeastern Kentucky.
During its first five years Headwaters producers taped many programs in
the studios of WKYH-TV in Hazard, which also broadcast the series. In
later years Headwaters delivered programs and Appalshop documentaries to
state and national audiences through PBS stations.
